5 MUST DO Things While Visiting
Sunday January 21, 2018
There are so many things to do while you're visiting Florida's Space Coast or it's formal name, Brevard County. We've compiled a small list of some of the exciting "Must See" things to do (besides our fishing trips) when they come to the area. Leaving off the obvious # 1 activity off going on a fishing trip with Lagooner Fishing Guides, here's the FIVE WONDERFUL THINGS TO DO ON THE SPACE COAST in no particular order.
Learn about the origins of Space Flight and the programs that started it all. From the Gemini/Mercury orbital launches to the Thunderous Apollo and Saturn V man on the moon explorations. Detailing every aspect of the American Space Program from it's earliest conception to the Space Shuttle and looking to the future with Constellation and a mission to Mars. Don't miss this attraction that's more than a day at a themepark... It's REAL!
A small Zoo that does big things! Each and every day, Brevard Zoo not only provides exceptional care for our own animals, but is immersed in critical field projects working to protect threatened and endangered animals around the world.
“Wildlife conservation through education and participation” is their mission, and aim to provide memorable guest experiences, connect people with wildlife and educate and inspire them to be stewards of our planet.
Come feel the Aloha spirit at SoBe Surf & Paddle — Florida’s premier stand up paddle board shop, offering board sales, surfing and SUP lessons, and paddle board / kayak nature tours. We teach lessons and guide excursions in the Cocoa Beach area (near Disney, Orlando) and Miami Beach, Florida. You’ll have a safe, easy, exciting time with instructors that are focused on providing you and family with a safe, fun and memorable experience!
It's Not Just a Day at the Beach, It's the Ultimate Beach Adventure! A historic landmark on Florida's Space Coast, the world-famous Cocoa Beach Pier stretches 800 feet over the Atlantic Ocean and is home to restaurants, bars, gift shops and live musical entertainment. In addition to great fishing, the Cocoa Beach Pier offers fishing equipment rentals, beach rentals, fresh water showers, regulation beach volleyball courts, lifeguards year round and some of the absolute best surfing on the East Coast!
Whether you have never touched a surfboard before or ready to move to the Nex level, Nex Generation Surf School will take you there. Longboard or shortboard, we have the instructor for you! We will have you in the water and surfing on your very first day at camp or lesson. All of our surf camps have safe soft surfboards which make our camp as safe as it can get. For the more advanced surfers, you can supply your own boards if you wish to. No matter what, just make sure you get out there and have a good time.

January - 2018 Fishing Report
The Banana River comes alive during the colder months of year and January is the peak season for deep hole trout, redfish and juvenile black drum. We've been fishing the deeper canals and slews with success during the cold fronts when the water is cold and also catching some great sized fish on the flats adjacent to these holes. Look for the Banana River to improve as the winter gets colder and the fish transition to their winter haunts in pursuit of cold, stable water. Look for mature fish to seek warmth on the shallow shorelines nearby.
January - 2018 Fishing Forecast
Is it going to be an Indian Summer this January or possibly a deep freeze Polar Vortex? These are the questions that all fishing guides want to know. Depending on how this winter plays out with temperatures, winds and other conditions will dictate how our fishing will pan out in January. Unless the water is churned up by high winds, January will produce some of the cleanest and clearest water of the year in Central Florida as colder water kills of plankton life in the lagoons and mild northeast winds often push in clearer water in the ocean. Look for great inshore fishing in the Mosquito Lagoon and Northern end of the Indian River toward Titusville. If the winds and water are all frothed up it can be a crap shoot for fishing in almost every inshore locations and will shutdown all offshore fishing due to small craft warnings and safety warnings. However, between fronts, look for some of the best fishing of the year in January both inshore and offshore in Central Florida.

We had an outstanding experience with Lagooner! To start, Captain Gina made the booking quick and easy. All follow-up and communication was just like she promised. Once we were on the water, Captain Richard made the day fun for everyone and put us on fish at every stop. I would recommend Lagooner to anyone looking for a charter in Cocoa Beach.
