Best Fishing Trips
Florida's Space Coast Top Angling Adventures
Sunday January 21, 2018
Florida's Central East Coast or Brevard County, labeled the "Space Coast" has several great fishing destinations for anglers looking for alternative methods, times, species and places. We've ranked our top fishing trips for anglers looking for variety when they head our direction looking for their next fishing trip.
Sebastian Inlet Snook Drifting
Sebastian Inlet marks the southern most boundary of Florida's Space Coast with The Treasure Coast on the south side of the inlet and Brevard County on the north side. Anglers can find a good bite almost all year around when the winds, waves and tides cooperate as this inlet has a treacherous reputation for swamping boats and monster sharks. An experienced Fishing Guide is very important to determine if Sebastian Inlet's timing is correct.
Snook & Redish are the most sought after fish while drifting the inlet, but there are large varieties of other gamefish too.
Mosquito Lagoon Sight Fishing
Slight tidal ebbs and flows make this shallow water lagoon an attraction for sight-fishing. Three main species of shallow water species make this a mecca of world renowned fishing targeting redfish, spotted sea trout and black drum. Bring polarized sunglasses to cut the glare on the clear water and let your guide show you where they are...
"Look at two o'clock, forty feet... There's a cruising redfish going right to left" as an excited fishing guide calls out directions for the next castSight fishing is not for the beginner, but it's as exciting as fishing gets and the World Famous Mosquito Lagoon offers the best sightfishing opportunities on the Space Coast.
Port Canaveral King fish
If you ask an experienced charter fishing Captain out of Port Canaveral "What's the most fun fishing?", you'll probably get one of two answers; "Sight Fishing for Cobia" or "King Mackerel Fishing". Both fishing world class fisheries on the Space Coast, but the most consistent of the two is probably the "Smoker" sized king fish that make long exciting runs on medium tackle.
A day out of Canaveral during the warmer months is your best bet and offers anglers a chance to catch some impressive sized king fish. Live baiting kings is by far the most productive, but let your Captain determine what's working and you'll usually not go wrong. Fishing for kings is a must when you're visiting the Space Coast and going in the ocean is a bonus that makes the trip that much more enjoyable.
Whichever Fishing Trip makes more sense to you when you're visiting the Space Coast, we can usually make it happen depending on weather and conditions. Ask about one of these destinations and types of fishing when you call to book your trip and we'll see if we can make it happen.

January - 2018 Fishing Report
The Banana River comes alive during the colder months of year and January is the peak season for deep hole trout, redfish and juvenile black drum. We've been fishing the deeper canals and slews with success during the cold fronts when the water is cold and also catching some great sized fish on the flats adjacent to these holes. Look for the Banana River to improve as the winter gets colder and the fish transition to their winter haunts in pursuit of cold, stable water. Look for mature fish to seek warmth on the shallow shorelines nearby.
January - 2018 Fishing Forecast
Is it going to be an Indian Summer this January or possibly a deep freeze Polar Vortex? These are the questions that all fishing guides want to know. Depending on how this winter plays out with temperatures, winds and other conditions will dictate how our fishing will pan out in January. Unless the water is churned up by high winds, January will produce some of the cleanest and clearest water of the year in Central Florida as colder water kills of plankton life in the lagoons and mild northeast winds often push in clearer water in the ocean. Look for great inshore fishing in the Mosquito Lagoon and Northern end of the Indian River toward Titusville. If the winds and water are all frothed up it can be a crap shoot for fishing in almost every inshore locations and will shutdown all offshore fishing due to small craft warnings and safety warnings. However, between fronts, look for some of the best fishing of the year in January both inshore and offshore in Central Florida.

Lagooner Fishing Guides Review / Facebook
Inshore and Offshore Charter Fishing near Orlando and Cocoa Beach, Florida. Catch redfish, sea trout, tarpon, snook and many other saltwater gamefish aboard the world famous Lagooner flats fishing boat with renowned Captain Richard Bradley.
Had the best day fishing off Cocoa Beach with Capt. Richard while we were docked in Port Canaveral for the day from the Norwegian Gem. Capt. Gina was so helpful in planning our trip months ahead and even came right to the boat and picked us up when we pulled into Port! We caught some beautiful King Mackerel and had many laughs. I would recommend Lagooner to EVERYONE. If we ever get back down there, we'll definitely go again.
