November is Fishing Month

November's Inshore Fishing Is Special

The Mosquito Lagoon & Sebastian Inlet Showing Their Colors

I've never considered myself a pompano expert by any means, but this year's run of these tasty little beach runners have dominated parts of the inshore and nearshore waters of Brevard and Indian River Counties.
Sandfleas and "goofy jigs" are a favorite to use when looking for these delicacies from the the salty waters of the Indian River and Beaches.  I've had several days were double-digit numbers have been the norm and then, well other days I've felt like I have a long way to go to be a pompano expert.

Everyone likes a good fight when it's on the end of a fishing rod. The ladyfish have been a favorite for those wanting to tussle with an anxious and fighter that's often called the "Poor Man's Tarpon".  Jumping is their specialty and there's always a smile when you bring one into the boat for a photo.  Ladyfish are often used for cut bait for other gamefish and redfish prefer ladyfish chunks above all else.

Don't count on the snook every November, but if warm weather and the fall mullet run to continue, you'll find plenty of lineside action on the lagoon, in Port Canaveral and Sebastian Inlet.  Snook are an inshore favorite and are great eating too.  The four-inch slot limit is demanding, but the fish is a worthy opponent indeed.

Sea Trout and Redish are staging into their inshore holes and grassflat areas of the Mosquito Lagoon north of Cocoa Beach and east of Orlando, Florida. Take advantage of the fall and winter months for these gamefish.

Red Dawn on the Mosquito Lagoon

Early mornings have been the trick to getting redfish on the shallow water grass flats.  Tailing schools of all sizes have been making their appearances almost anywhere you stop and concentrate.

Most anglers practice catch and release but some choose to keep a couple for the dinner table.

The key to summertime fishing in Florida is go early and be the first one on the spot.

Both artificial and natural bait are productive but generally the bigger fish like natural baits as the seem more educated.

Spring Snook at Sebastian

Spring and Early Summer Snook Bite

Inshore and Inlet fishing for Sebastian and Indian River Snook is about as good as it gets when the tides and winds cooperate.  You can expect a mixed bag of redfish, gator trout and some mighty nice sized snook both in the inshore waters of the Indian River Lagoon and the tidal areas inside Sebastian Inlet.

Fishing Forecast

April - 2018 Fishing Forecast

April of 2018 should be a great spring for fishing in both inshore and offshore coastal waters of Central Florida. Look to the Mosquito Lagoon and Banana Rivers to produce redfish and sea trout consistently and then look toward the ocean and depending on the water temps, clear skies and wind the cobia will be on their way north and migrating past Canaveral towards their northern grounds on the mid-Atlantic seaboard. Central Florida's weather during the spring is usually no less than spectacular as the college spring breakers are winding up the end of their vacation and heading back to campus to finish up before summer break. Daytona Beach host several spring events from NASCAR Races, Bike Week and Spring Break activities while Cocoa Beach and it's Space Coast offer a much less crowded alternative for vacationers to seek a more secluded and restful Holiday. The temperatures are rising and the fishing should be heating up too in East Central Florida's Cocoa Beach.

TripAdvisor Review

Review / Trip Advisor

Inshore and Offshore Charter Fishing near Orlando and Cocoa Beach, Florida. Catch redfish, sea trout, tarpon, snook and many other saltwater gamefish aboard the world famous Lagooner flats fishing boat with renowned Captain Richard Bradley.

Money so well spent!! - I treated a couple of dear friends to a charter fishing trip with Lagooner. I have to say it was money so well spent! Not like any charter I had ever been on before. Richard paid personal attention to every detail. Making sure we had the absolute best time and moved us around to follow fish of every type. This allowed for some simple easy fishing along with some wild challenges. I can't think of what else would have made this trip a better experience. My guests had never been treated so well on a charter they said. Yes you can find cheaper but I would never, ever try to save a couple of dollars and not have this kind of experience and memories.!
